AireWire Connects Premier Georgia Resort Facilities with Wireless Network from Firetide |
Atlanta, GA April 30, 2008 – Lake Lanier Islands Resort in Georgia now connects its facilities with high performing wireless mesh network from Firetide Inc., a leading developer of wireless mesh and access networks. Designed and deployed by systems integrator AireWire Inc., the wireless network ensures uninterrupted communications during the resort’s expansion and renovation, which includes construction of two new hotels and refurbishing of two existing hotels. “The wireless solution saved us at least 6 months of network buildout,” said Jonathan Reich, IT manager, Lake Lanier Islands Resort. “Any cabling or trenching would have required 4 to 6 months for building permits alone, while the wireless network was completed in 3 weeks, and no permits were required. With the Firetide wireless network, I am able to deliver uninterrupted connectivity for internal operations and guest services, while we are under full-scale construction. This is huge in hospitality business.” In 2005, the lease interest in the resort was transferred from state ownership to a private enterprise. New construction and expansion began in 2007. During the transition, the IT team was tasked with increasing efficiency of IT services, which meant centralizing data center into a single location for improved effectiveness of business operations. The challenges: not a lot of wired infrastructure in the ground, and a complex physical topography.

New Firetide MIMO-Based Infrastructure Redefines Wireless Mesh With Breakthrough 400 Mbps Performance 4th Generation Infrastructure Mesh Extends Company’s Technology Lead in Large-Scale, High-Bandwidth Networks LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Firetide, Inc. (http://www.firetide.com), the leading provider of wireless infrastructure mesh networks, today announced the new, MIMO-based Firetide HotPort® 7000 wireless solution delivering up to 400 Mbps throughput, enabling, for the first time, the deployment of large-scale municipal, industrial and enterprise wireless networks for video, data and voice applications. Until now, municipalities and others have been constrained by the lack of bandwidth needed to support such large-scale and multi-service networks. Now with the HotPort 7000 infrastructure mesh, they have fiber-equivalent performance with all the benefits of Firetide’s proven technology and at a fraction of the cost and time to deploy wired networks. “Game-Changing” Advance MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) infrastructure mesh technology from Firetide provides municipal, industrial and enterprise users with the bandwidth needed to expand the reach of their existing networks, while adding a variety of fixed and mobile applications: city-wide video surveillance, traffic management and intelligent transportation systems, Wi-Fi access for mobile city workers and wireless broadband for underserved areas. Firetide MIMO infrastructure mesh also makes possible high-bandwidth mobile applications, including voice, data and video, to enhance productivity of government workers and provide new capabilities to transportation networks. |
